Saddle fitting day between 10am and 4pm
next day Feb/March DTBC due to weather

Julia Garrett from WES Garretts of Draycott, will be available at Rose Farm in Catcott for one day per month, when you can bring your horse, to have your saddle checked and fitted correctly.

The great advantage will be that you can ride in the 20 x 40m sand & rubber school whilst Julia assesses, changes pads and takes measurements etc,  so please bring your Bridle, Saddle/s and Hat and riding equipment.
Julia will then advise and if adjustments/re-flocking is required she will take your saddle which can be collected from
WES Garretts a few days later.

Julia will also have various pads, stirrups, leathers, bridles,  plus new and 2nd hand saddles to look at and try out.
If you need a specific item from Garretts, please let Ali know by lunchtime of the Tues before - on 01934 742367.

A saddle fitting appointment here will only cost you £25.00, takes about 1 hour and will include assessment and fitting
(any adjustments will be extra).
If you purchase a new saddle, fitting is free.

Lotty Merry will also be available to check your horses back for symmetry, pain/discomfort or to look further into why your horse may not be working correctly.
Please inform your vet if you would like her to take a look
(this is a legal requirement).  This assessment included in the price. You are also welcome to bring your horse
(or a 2nd horse) even if you don’t want your saddle checked, for Lotty to take a look.

We are hoping to add other professionals to this day in the future – these will include Foot Trimming, Teeth etc.
Please let me know if you would be interested in this for your horse.

Symmetrical - Is it??

What flocking does your saddle have?

Ask yourself
  1. Am I tipping left or right?
  2. Is my horse one-sided?
  3. Is my horse heavier on one rein?
  4. Does he teeth-grind?
  5. Has he got a high head carriage?
  6. Does he drop his back?
  7. Is he cold backed?
  8. Does he rush into his fences?
  9. Does my horse have new white hairs in the saddle area?
  10. Does he buck into canter?
  11. Does he find collection easy, or does he fight?
  12. Can he engage his back and hindquarters?
  13. Does he do Lateral moves easily?
  14. Does he swish his tail?
  15. Does he clamp his tail?
  16. How long ago was his saddle checked?
  17. Do you feel like you tip back or forwards?
  18. Does he gnash his teeth or try to bite when girthed?
  19. Do you always use the same saddle and pad arrangement?
  20. Does he throw his head up in transitions?
  21. Does he tilt his head when bending or doing lateral work?

Many of the above problems can be caused by incorrectly fitting tack
